In our first meeting of the CDA Race & Equity Journal Club, Co-Executive Director Andrew Fuligni talked with researchers Lauren Mims, PhD, and Joanna Lee Williams, PhD, about their 2020 paper, “They Told Me What I Was Before I Could Tell Them What I Was”: ‘Black Girls’ Ethnic-Racial Identity Development Within Multiple Worlds.
The paper, and their discussion, looked at the factors that influence Black girls’ sense of racial-ethnic identity during middle school, highlighting some important ways adults can support positive identity development.
